Magic Mountain opening 12/16
I just wanted to let everyone know that Magic Mountain, the Mad River
Glen of Southern VT, is now open (Tues., Dec. 16 2003). I've heard that conditions are excellent!! Magic is one of those mountains that you wish all mountains could be-- friendly people, not a big corporate environment.. Trails are excellent as well-- some nice wide, easy groomers from the top, along with some of the best expert, true black diamond trails as well. Best thing: tickets are the cheapest (that I've experienced) in Vermont.. Hope everyone gets out there to support this 'local' mountain. Pass the word on as well-- I really want this mountain to thrive and survive to give us all an alternative to the giants like Stratton.. |

From http://www.stonehedgepartners.com/team.html#jnelson John O.Nelson, Director Global Marketing and Sales, Boston: John Nelson has had an extensive career in building and managing financial services sales and marketing teams, with full P&L responsibilities across a number of diverse platforms. He served as a Senior Vice President and Managing Director at United Asset Management where he developed and implemented strategic planning for the money management division and hired and managed a global marketing and sales staff of over 20 professionals. John has also converted numerous start-up concepts into nationally-recognized name brands. Mr. Nelson most recently was the Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Placemark Investments, Inc. where he developed and oversaw the firms entire marketing efforts from all collateral materials, brochures, sales materials to building and managing the firms sales team. Mr. Nelson also founded and managed the Montague Corporation, a start-up company that marketed a patented, full size folding bicycle. The company was eventually sold to Schwinn Bicycle Corporation. Mr. Nelson brings entrepreneurial, marketing and product positioning as well as extensive sales and sales management skills to StoneHedge. He is a graduate of Brown University and received his MBA from the Sloan School of Management, MIT. Makes me wonder if his interest is something more than just trying to spread the word. -- Chester Bullock, Ethical, custom website hosting, design and programming Tenxible Solutions, http://www.tenxible.com Web Based Autoresponder and DRIP system, http://www.toolsre.com AIM: tenxible YahooIM: ccb247 |

A group headed by John C. Nelson bought the place at foreclosure last year, when it could easily have closed permanently. Perhaps a little slack is appropriate for a group trying to save a small ski area, giving us more choices than the mega-resorts. Perhaps a little slack is appropriate for a group trying to save a small ski area, giving us more choices than the mega-resorts. Slack would be accorded if he was upfront about things and not veiling his interest. I am all for more ski areas, and certainly for more affordable ones. But to throw blatant marketing speak out there and not define one's interest is deceptive, at least to me. This group has received industry people well in the past. It is actually a breath of fresh air in this marketing-hyped world when someone is just plain honest with you. I think that was part of the reason my CSDR's were so popular when I worked at Copper. I didn't force feed everyone the company line. I reported what I experienced when skiing. The public deserves the truth. -- Chester Bullock, Ethical, custom website hosting, design and programming Tenxible Solutions, http://www.tenxible.com Web Based Autoresponder and DRIP system, http://www.toolsre.com AIM: tenxible YahooIM: ccb247 |

Has anybody out there visited the Dostal's at the base of Magic Mt recently
?? Can you comment how it's being run with the new owners ?? The Kodak ski club has stayed there numerous times over the years and we're visiting again this January. We're all wondering how friendly the owners are and how well they're operating the hotel. "BostonSki" wrote in message om...
