Best skiing resort for a complete beginner?

Definately Andorra, and I would suggest Soldeu.
Excellent and cheap ski school and great learner slopes. Also TAX free so
very cheap to live out there

with persons who are learning to ski. The day contains enough
irritations and difficulties without this.

Very small. Easy logistics with parking outside hotel. Mainly families
with young children.

I agree. I think long walks in skiboot would give a very bad
impression to a beginner.

If you cannot stay by the lift then some chalets are next to pistes I
think Meribel has a few of these, and Obergurgl. There must be many
more.

Strings of chalets distributed through winding pistes make for a very
attractive setting.

Meribel has several hotels very near the Doron Pub (aka Le Pub). So what, I
hear you ask! Well, the there's a green run that runs behind the pub and
back down to the main lift area in Meribel. But, and here's the nice bit,
there are stairs leading down from that run to the side of the pub. It's a
ten minute walk to the pub from the lift area. Get to those stairs and you
can ski almost all the way back. Plus, in the mornings, go up those stairs
and ski to the lifts, instead of walking! Cushty!! Great for apres ski too!!
;o) Just make sure you get the Rhodos 2 lift before the lifts close!! LOL
