Default Canadian Avalanche

I just heard about a backcountry skier avalanche fatality 12 Feb.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/cpress/20060...lanche_death_3

The article notes: "The avalanche danger was considered moderate on
Sunday, Field said, adding that authorities were advising people to be
aware of rising temperatures, especially on south-facing slopes that
would get a lot of sun."

http://www.csac.org is probably the most complete resource on
avalanche reports.

Note that even a "Low" avalanche forecast is _not_ saying no chance of
one, and many have been hurt or killed in areas with a "Low" forecast
rating. The avvy forecast should be one of many factors going into
your assessment.

Most forecasts, if you read all the way through, will mention the
factors that would increase risk, as above.
Happy trails,
