Default Summer in Kitzbuhel

Hi everybody!! I'm absolutely new to thos group and I wanted to ask
all of you your opinion about going in the summer in Kitzbuhel. In
particular I've been offered a package in a hotel called Schloss
Munichau that I can not really find on the internet to I was wondering
if any of you can give advice on this..
I've a small child and we (my husband and myself) are quite fond of
mountains even if normally not keen on climbing high rocks but more
interested in relaxing walks!!

Thanks!!

Not sure about Kitzbuel, but we had an excellent summer holiday in Zell
am See once.

A few of the ski lifts were open so that you could get to the tops of
the hills without any effort and walk on the relatively flat bits.

You went to Zell in the summer, how much of the time did you spend in
Kaprun?

Can't comment about Kitz in particular, but Austria in Summer is good in
general. Some of the lifts will be open (check the Tourist Office
website for what will be open in Kitz), so you can go walking without
killing yourself climbing up 4000ft out of the valley first thing. A few
places will probably close down, but in general you'll find most
restaurants and hotels in full swing in the summer, but not as hectic as
the winter. Be wary of the "shoulder" season - between the summer and
winter seasons (May/early June and October/November) as things can go
deathly quiet at these times.

None ! We did intend to ski, but it was the height of summer and quite
warm, so it would have meant a very early start for a couple of hours
skiing in marginal conditions so we didn't bother.

We did have a major storm though that caused land-slips and floods as
well as dumping huge amounts of marble-sized hailstones that were still
around the next morning. We even found a drift of them 3 days later in a
dark wood half way up the mountain.

Where they still dancing on the tables at the bar at the top of the
mountain?

Not that I noticed, but we tended to go up the mountain quite early and
then walk to some other place and get a train or something back to ZaS
and spend the later afternoon in the pool or at the lake.

Likewise.

Depending on the area, there are usually mountain refreshment houses
which vary between places which offer a beer and a snack up to decent
size restaurant. A great time may be had walking between these.
