Default Price of skiing or boarding in Europe

I read on the http://AustriaSkiReport.com website that the cost of
skiing or snowboarding in Europe is about half of what it is in the US.
Is that true? Do you have to be a member of the EU to get those
prices?

Lift Tickets kost from 20$(Smal resorts 1-3 Lifts) up to 46$(Davos,
Verbier) per day. The most expencive ist Zermatt with 55$.

Hotels are also Cheaper. But not so much.

You save much more if get a Packages. Exaple: Davos ***Hotel Feb.2006
7 Night with Breakfast, 6 Day Ticket. ~1000$

Skiing in Europe is MUCH cheaper than in the top US resorts such as Vail or
Aspen. Lift tickets cost much less. As for hotels. In Zermatt, an
expensive resort, you pay the same price for a room including breakfast and
dinner, as you pay in the US for a room without meals, in the same quality
hotel. The European hotels are generally better. This is true even though
the Dollar is presently weak. You get even better value in less expensive
European resorts.

We're Americans who ski in the USA West and in Zermatt every winter. For
us, snow quality and lift systems are better in the West. For value, and
overall experience, it's Europe. We prefer Europe.

All answers until know were related to switzerland. For Austria the
hotels really might be half priced, expecially if you book a package.

No. We take money from everyone ;-)

Well I have skied a number of resorts in Europe and resorts in America and
Canada and I prefer the US/Canada, so I guess its all subjective.

It is true that lift passes are cheaper in Europe, however I really disagree
with you when it comes to cost and quality of accomodation, which I find to
be much better value for money in the US/Canada. This is even more true
with the current exchange rate.

Both are very good for different reasons. Now I live close to the Alps I
won't be travelling to Canada/US anymore, and likewise if I lived in
Colorado I wouldn't travel to Europe to ski either..

Not now true for Canada! CAD$2.00 to £1 will make it *VERY* expensive for
the likes of Whistler (which was my most expensive holiday ever when it was
was over 2.40:1)

Very true. I had no idea the CAD had become so strong, that is crazy!

The USD is gaining too, but is still not too bad but then the Euro isn't
really strong against the pound at the moment either so it might dilute what
I've said a bit really..
