2001 burton custom graphics peeling
hi all,
i have a 2001 burton custom 160. took it to the shop to tune recently, and the guy said that my board, like the other '01 customs he's seen, has the topsheet graphics peeling. apparently they tried to do something crazy with the metically graphics that year and it didn't work out, so it peels and chips starting around the edges. anyway, he didn't go into details, but he said i should see if my warranty is still valid.. but of course, the 1 year expired. just wondering if anyone has had this problem with the custom (or other burton boards)... and if it eventually leads to delamination or anything serios. what can be done to treat/stop/fix it? if it's only cosmetic, i can deal with that... thanks. -w. |

Is that the year they had those "matte" topsheets (slightly rough
texture). I remember the Burton shop rep at Government Camp (Mt.Hood) talk about how "cool" they were. They were doing free tuning clinics and I got my board waxed and tuned for free since it was in the worst condition - heh. --Arvin "Wyatt Wong" wrote in message ... hi all, i have a 2001 burton custom 160. took it to the shop to tune recently, and the guy said that my board, like the other '01 customs he's seen, has the topsheet graphics peeling. apparently they tried to do something crazy with the metically graphics that year and it didn't work out, so it peels and chips starting around the edges. anyway, he didn't go into details, but he said i should see if my warranty is still valid.. but of course, the 1 year expired. just wondering if anyone has had this problem with the custom (or other burton boards)... and if it eventually leads to delamination or anything serios. what can be done to treat/stop/fix it? if it's only cosmetic, i can deal with that... thanks. -w. |

no, actually it wasn't matte. there's nothing special about the topsheet,
except that there's some metallic reflective parts in the graphics... i guess they chose a new process to layer the topsheet or something? anyways, it's falling apart (without any abuse), i just want to know how bad it'll get. Top sheet is no worry. Purely cosmetic.
