Default Anyone cut down their Skylords to Straps?

Since I have gotten a set of Nitro Auras to be my new Clicker boots, I plan
to convert my Shimano Skylords to strap boots by removing the strap, and
sawing off the rear hinge system completely. Before doing this, I wanted
to see if anyone had done this and like the Skylord as a strap boot. They
are worthless on Ebay since the soles are way too rusted and this seems to
be a great way to get me a set of stiff soft boots for free.

How long has Nitro been in the step-in market?

It looks like exactly the same system as the K2 Clickers...who used to
have a boot relationship with K2, so, I guess their patent expired or
they sold rights to Nitro.

Either way, I'm ****ed at K2 for never telling me another highback
solution existed when I bitched to them for removing their highback
product and going back to only plate step-in bindings.

Any info on Nitro's step-ins would be appreciated.
How are the boots?
Does anybody carry these online?
Does anyone use the Nitro highback step-ins? (RF)

Thanks,
-todd

At least since 1998 since I had a pair of Nitro Meiji Clicker HB boots
from 1998-2001. Although I was told at 2001 that they were getting out
of the boot business for the US.

Actually I think K2 got the technology from Shimano (based on their
bicycle click in system) and Nitro also produced boots for the
binding. K2 gave up on making the bindings, but apparently Nitro
picked it up.. if you actually look more closely the bindings and
boots are still branded as Shimano sole and step-in system.

Either way, I'm ****ed at K2 for never telling me another highback
solution existed when I bitched to them for removing their highback

Yea, I think they didn't want anyone else making money off of the
technology if they weren't going to. I assumed that Clicker HB were
gone for good, but it looks like Nitro still makes them.

I'm pretty sure these are exactly the same as the Clicker HB and will
be intercompatible. I have no idea about the quality of the boots now
(I liked Nitro boots for my narrow feet back in the late 90's but it
looksl ike they are completely different now). No idea on where to get
this stuff.
