Skiing in Utah middle of March - please advise
I and my family are going to weeklong Utah trip in the middle of March
for the first time. We have charter transportation arranged to a condo close to PCMR lifts. So far I'm thinking about skiing for 3 days in PCMR and 2 or 3 days somewhere else. In your opinion - what other areas should I look at? Alta? Snowbasin? Canyons? (Astro, I already know what you think about crayons ) I'm an advanced east coast skier – have very little powder experience. I will also have wife and daughter in tow, who are strong intermediates. Any ideas on how to better utilize long awaited ski vacation time are greatly appreciated. Would you recommend renting a car ($150-$200 a week), or public shuttle is good enough? If we get tired, and decide to take a break for a day, any suggestions on what to do? Does SLC worth visiting? Any positive experience with snowmobile tours in the area? Another popular question - any hints for discount tickets? Thanks a lot, simon... |

As an intermediate at the time, I adored a groomer down the front face -- I think it was Sunshine Bowl -- and had a chance to work on my steeps on Challenger. My more advanced skiing companions on the trip had an awesome time in Honeycomb Canyon, too. You don't say whether you're looking to learn more about powder vs. warning us that you don't want to have to deal with powder =P -- monique |
