Noisy Rottefella bindings
My son has some fairly new Rottefella NNN bindings that were installed
where he purchased them. The heel plate makes a "swawking" sound when he puts pressure on it (so, whenever he takes a step on the skis). It looks like this is from the plate moving slightly up and down due to a very thin gap between the binding and the ski. Is this normal for this binding? Or does the binding (the heel plate) need to be tightened? If it needs tightening, how is this done? Thanks in advance for any help. Rick H |

I'm not sure exactly how current NNN heel plates are fixed to the ski, but older models used a plastic pin sticking out of the underside glued in a drilled hole in the ski, and possibly screws. I'd take the skis back. You might get more responses over in rec.skiing.nordic, this group is concerned with backcountry skiing where people mostly use stronger bindings than the NNN. Although some of us also do groomed track skiing with NNN gear... Martin -- "An ideal world is left as an exercise to the reader." -Paul Graham, On Lisp |
