Somewhere in the San Juans, yesterday February 21.

Red Mtn. was closed this morning so it was a looooong drive back
through Durango (after a single lane was cleared down the
road...pretty wild).

I wish I could have been there. Maybe another time. I was in the front range
over the weekend instead. Caught some good music, but didn't do that.
Monarch was great on Friday (played hooky), so the weekend wasn't a total
loss (in terms of skiing).

Did you guys manage to fill the cat with good skiers?

Those guys had a full cat. Our cat (the second one) ended up only having 7
folks on it. Everyone was up to the task. We made 13(?) runs, I think.
Silverton was pretty killer as well. Next time, mah man, next time........

It worked out amazingly well. There were only a couple runs where
the snowcat beat us down the hill. A good group for those conditions
and the terrain. Of course the guyz in the other cat didn't get the

Uh-huh, dream on alpine boy. Bob might have bailed into a few
parallel turns, but I can't ski powder parallel--only hardpack (like
the cat track). Jack wasn't paralleling either.

Telepine in powder is dangerous territory for sure! Without that foot back
you're just waiting for a slightly thicker, deeper, or haevier patch of snow
to induce the dreded toe pivot/head plant!
