Burton Malolo??
Hey people,
I am thinking of buying a Burton Malolo. Heard a lot of good things about this board. Ofcourse i want to use it in the deep stuff, who has the pleasure of riding this board already? Can u give me some info about it? Is it really such a good board? How does it ride on the piste? I guess i need the 162 i am: 1.80 and about 82 kg. What about the durability of this board? Can anybody compare this board with the option northshore or option pintail legacy?? Grtz, Jim |

I haven't ridden the Malolo although I rode a Prior Kyhber the other
week. I have a review of it on my website - google for it. In the shop the Malolo and the Khyber are very similar; there's a slight camber / nose lift/ flex difference, but they seem the same and the plan shapes are identical. I rode the thing in helicopter accessed terrain, mostly open glacier but some trees. I've no idea how it rides on the piste and no desire to find out, although I would guess... better than a trad powder board as it's narrower. The Khyber is half way between a trad powder board and a Fish. So it's not as nippy as the Fish, but it's got more float. It's not as cruisy as a Canyon/ Fastback etc, but it's quicker to turn. I rode a 162 and I weigh 62Kg, so you may be ok on the same length, depending on how you ride. For sure it rides longer than the Fish (I ride a 156 Fish) and shorter than a trad powder board (I ride a 168). For me it was kind of what you'd expect... half way from one type of board to another. If you don't fancy going all the way to the Fish then perhaps this would be the right machine for you. I'll stick with the Fish for off piste. |
