Default Off to La Grave tomorrow

My first (and only) trip this season, which is a little unusual for
me. But it looks like the alpes have received a reasonable covering
of fresh snow this week, so I'm hoping conditions should be good.

I'm doing this week http://www.mcnabsnowboarding.com/bc/exp.php with
McNab; if it's anything like the previous trips I've done with them
(Mt Blanc, Russia) then it'll be superb.

I've given in to temptation and been checking the snow and weather
forecasts this week. One thing I'm not sure about is how, on the Ski
Club GB site, the weather page has consistently predicted snow every
day this week
(http://www.skiclub.co.uk/skiclub/wea...tOrder=Country)
whereas the snow report page has shown the last snowfall at Alpe
d'Huez, Les2Alpes and Serre Chevalier to be Monday 19th. Anyone got
any more information?

Yupp. It's been snowing pretty much all over, as far as I can tell.
There was enough snow to ski down our drive on a couple of mornings
this week, although it's clearing by the afternoons here.

We'll be popping over to Engelberg this weekend, which seeme likely to
give the best skiing of this season so far.

I think it's just a reporting/updating mistake on the web pages,
although I note that the AdH page says the last snow was on 21st. But
reading the reports and going to the resorts' own sites confirms that
snow has been falling everywhere.

la Grave and the Grandes Rousses (ADH) have missed a lot of the recent
snow. Andorra is the place to be at the moment. There was about 10cm
during wednesday at la Grave and 5cm last night. Biggest fall was 20cm
on Monday. It is also very cold and windy at the mo but good weather is
forecast for next week.

Been having a discussion back here, and is McNab a UIAGM qualified guide ?
Just that we were looking at a few images from his site, and when we were
out in the same week doing some touring hut to hut, and with our guides we
did not take the same traverse line similar to what he did, and if we had,
we would have been at least at 50 mt intervals............

As far as I know, Neil is now a qualified Chamonix Mountain Guide,
which I think gives UIAGM affiliation. I think that, about two years
ago he was on the probationary thing guides do, working with a
qualified guide.

Known as an "aspirant" - have a good trip in La Grave, you'll get to love
the traverses in the woods back down to P1

He, or his guides, must be if he is in la Grave or the Gendarmerie would
McNab him faster than an out of control snowboarder.

could you give a link?

I admit some of the shots show some ragged old groups. One of the
problems with guided groups is group size and timing and that sometimes
means keeping clients closer together than would be normally considered
sensible. It is a judgement call that sometimes goes disasterously wrong
- such as with La Traviata/Revelstoke avalanche.
