Default Hey Klaus! (was control work)

What's the slide bed here? We have rotten snow on North aspects in the
Hole. Rain above 9K recently has weighted most of the steep inbound
North facing stuff to crack to the ground and run naturally. After it
cools back down, all the snow we have now will have an ice layer in
it.

Are these sliding off sun crusts? Its a North aspect, (shadows- has to
be an AM shot) Looks like 2# hand bombs. Your snow doesn't have the wet
gooey cohesion we have right now.

I'm real interested in the Wasatch snow pack this year. I scored $293.00
a week for the next 12 weeks on unemployment. All I have to do is *NOT*
find a $20/hr carpentry job So I'll be road tripping a bunch. TIA!

From what I've seen,it's about a foot of faceted snow under about
three feet of inverted snow with added complexity of surface hoar on
wind protected (leeward side) slopes. Add a few days of warm weather,
and Voile(tm), stand back. From talks with patrollers last night, they
are still getting 3-5 foot crowns during control work. No sun crust,
really. It was too freekin' cold when the sun was out in November.

We have a ready made Ph.D. thesis sitting on our slopes. Ugly,
complex, variable, and oh so happy to end your season and
life. Yesterday was the first day since the storm that I ventured more
than 100 feet from my house. But the bar was pretty empty.

Dry sugar snow buried under three feet of inverted.... uhhhh.. call it
sucrotic if you want.

Well...drop a line if in the area. I'll probably be up your way in
January, mostly backcountry, during our thaw, British Columbia in
February, and then I have some unfinished business on Denali in
May. How'd you do BTW? Looks like you hit the weather window. We hit
the weather steel vault door. Some good turns, some soul searching,
and a great time. But no summit.

I'm not training for any Rondonee Rallies, and I have to get a new knee
brace. I'm waiting for my first unemployment check of the season

No summit here. I had 5 clear days out of 25. The objective hazard of
running around solo up there wasn't pleasant either. I started looking
for a good partner my first week back. I'll keep track of what cracks to
the ground and runs full track around here. By the middle of January there
might be some relatively stable goods localized after the deep instability
was ripped out.
