Default Quick Way to Increase Pole Basket "Size" in Soft Conditions

I was skiing last week at Mout St. Anne, and with a lot of new snow,
my poles were sinking deep into the snow, so that I wasn't able to
really use my upper body that much.

I know the solution is to change out the teeny-tiny race baskets that
poles come with these days to larger baskets, but in a situation where
you're just going for a quick ski, is there some add-on that increases
the surface area of the pole baskets temporarily?

(I'm thinking along the lines of some old-style basket that could slip-
on.)

Thanks,

Jon
