Default First home board WAXing. Did I do anything wrong here? ...

(toddjb) wrote in message . com...
I've read all the posts here and a few online guides.
Here's what I did...

- sharpened edges
- cleaned with citrus cleaner, let sit, wiped dry (board still smelled orange)
- let board sit. (board still smelled like oranges)
- dripped All Temp flouro induced wax over entire board (half a bar)
- ironed wax in, kept iron moving.
- let sit in cold garage for 10 minutes or so.
- scraped until no more wax came off
- brushed base with nylon brush (looked nice after this!)

Wow, thanks for all the tips. Made a couple mods to the above list,
retuned to the slope and was very impressed with the results.
Friggin' fast wax job! (and it was also a normal temperature range
with a nice dry fresh snow)

Here's the mods I made to the above list;

- left the wax on the board for 20 minutes or more.
- scraped a little better.
- brushed a little better.
- and the crayoning with a hot wax bar (pressed against iron to keep
warm) that jason recommended worked great. yeah, i wasted a ton of
wax the first time. i had plenty of wax to iron with this time and
it seemed like i used and 1/8 of the bar or less.
- i also took someone else's advice of taking several passes with
the iron. i made about 4 passes and really felt like the board got
nice and warm (not too hot) and the wax worked in nice.

amazing results. i'm sold on home waxing.
