Killington?
If all goes well, I should be there but not working
(in civilian garb). Let me know if that's where you'll
be and I'll monitor channel 5-2.

Going skiing on Tuesday !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time to scrape brush and rewax..............

Hey Ron,
I've been out of circulation for a couple weeks. My wife
had a medical problem and I've been care giver. I'm
planning on going tomorrow. I'll let you know.

I'll be free skiing next week probably Tuesday and Thursday.
I usually go in via Skye Ship on Route 4 since it's the
closest entry to my home. I may also try Pico on Thursday
to see what has happened there. Pico is where I go if
I'm forced to ski on a Saturday, otherwise I generally
prefer Killington which has more diversity.

Here's three ways to get ahold of me.
Cel 802.770.2784
I'll monitor FRS channel 5-2 for the first
2 hours of the morning
Leave a not for me at the patrol shack at
Killington peak (it's new, a hex shaped
building where Great Northern does a
hairpin turn within sight of the top of
the Gondola) or Skye Peak. Leave it near
where the Ambassadors sign in an out.
Try the cel first, but I've been having trouble
with it. Time for a new one.

I'm willing to bet your Patagonia outfit is so big that it has it's
own area code.

When you get on the lift does it grind to a quarter speed?

You undoubtedly missed the headon collision (2 dead, according to
rumor in the traffic backup) on 38 just below the mile 17/5000 foot
elevation markers. From a distance, it looked like an uphill car
wandered into the downhill lane and both ended up in the gurad rail I
spent 3 hours waiting for police cars, ambulances, tow trucks and
helicopters to clear the scene and just got home a few minutes ago.

I passed some sort of accident on the uphill side, but there was no
traffic backup on either side and it didn't look serious, so that must
not have been it. That would have been around 1:30 or so, maybe a bit
later.

The real story:
http://kbhr933.com/current-news/high...ts-fatalities/

I pulled into a turnout behind a 40-foot tractor/trailer whose driver
said he couldn't turn around there and promptly got boxed in by 5 dump
trucks returning down hill after delivering loads of crushed rock to a
construction site (doesn't that mountain already have lots of rock
available?).

You'd think. Could it have been part of the dam roadwork? The arctic
circle would seem to be an excellent place for gathering rock, but maybe

When I wandered out into the bushes to take a leak (it
must have been obvious - one of the truck drivers yelled at me to be
careful of the poison oak) a CHP helicopter flew over carrying, I must
assume, cameras.

Should the worst happen in the poison oak department, a Decadron shot
works nicely -- or at least it did 40 years ago; they probably have
better stuff now.

And yes the skiing was perfect. Usually Big Bear days are icy in the
morning slush in the afternoon. Today was packed powder top to
bottom, start to finish.

Bev's skiing style includes scolding snowboarders who stop in blind
spots, and she looks enough like a little old lady (excuse me Bev)
that they don't give her any **** for it.

Too bad about the poison oak warning -- it would have made a lasting
memory, reminding you that women of a certain age sometimes have unseen
talents.

I REALLY don't like that road. There are few (one?) passing lanes, it's
too slow for 3rd and too fast for 2nd downhill, and brake fade is
always a worry ever since it happened a couple of years ago, maybe the
first time I drove the Caddy down the hill :-(

Cheers, Bev

Thanks for the link.

I woke up 3 AM Friday planning on hitting Bear Mt. since my pass works
there also and everything is reported open. However, I checked the
weather channel radar and there was intermittent rain all over So Cal,
so I rolled over and went back to sleep.

Today I am loading up the truck for the Mammoth trip. If I get the
time, I will be hitting the local Play it Again Sports shop looking
for replacement bib (broke a pocket zipper Wednesday - still usable,
but a PITA when it's cold).

Plan is drive up Sunday, stopping for lunch at the Ranch House in
Olancha and at K-Mart in Bishop to shop for real tire chains and dirt
cheap ski clothes. Lodging will be at Econo Lodge in Mammoth Lakes
(surprisingly affordable and earns me points on my Choice Hotel
plan). 2 days at Mammoth, Wednesday at June, then hoteling a night in
Bishop and back home Thursday.

You could make it to Utah!!!! You knew, hook up with your fellow
stalker Bob Thompson, confront me, call me a child molester to my
face. You know, act like a man.
Ooooops, forgot. Dickless Bob won't be in town, he's got an EMERGENCY
GOLF TRIP. And Dickless Henry has an EMERGENCY MAMMOTH TRIP. And
neither of you had the balls to spew your **** in Sun Valley.
BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHH AAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

You know what I really love? You're such a ****ing gumby that you are
buying ski clothes in K Mart. How classless. How tacky. How normal
for you.

Be a real dirtbag, simply stitch up the pocket with the
offending zipper.

He IS a real dirtbag. He bought used snowboarder pants. Probably
because they have a full cut to hide his diapers.

The bib-overall-style pants in question had already been patched with
velcro strips when one of the suspender strap latches broke years
ago. And the zipper still works, but the pull tab disappeared so it
requires bare fingers to open and close.

Anyway, I took the opportunity to get myself 2 new pairs from a used
sports shop.

And, just to keep up the dirtbag quotient, I removed the lock from the
gas filler panel on my truck because it was getting difficult and
replaced it for the moment with a couple of strips of duck tape.

I would suggest duct tape, for the style statement.
