liability insurance
Are any of you in the US, perhaps especially Minnesota, aware of a
broker who is familiar with providing general liability insurance for non-profit cki clubs? Thanks, Burgess |

Thanks, Burgess Our local club goes through USSA membership. If you are looking for event insurance there are backdoor routes. I can think of a number of local cycling events that are run by civic organizations as fundraisers and are covered by their umbrella policies. I organized my first ski race this year and was surprised and a little bit chagrined to discover that it was more expensive to insure a race event on trails than it is an event on open roads with cars. Maybe next year I should make each skier carry a bike and call it a cyclocross. Bob Schwartz |

This was a high school race, 'Non Scored' in USSA lingo. The bike races I ran last year were $20 + $2.65/head. We're a club team with no school affiliation so we have to go this route. Teams that are officially sponsored by their school district don't have this issue because their races are no different from a basketball game and are covered under their district's liability policy. Bob Schwartz Interesting info, thanks!! I wonder how big an event should be to get the organizers into liability issues, necessitating an insurance purchase. Like, a bunch a guys/gals getting together for a rollerski race, or a bike ride. |
