I'm going to be on the edge of the canton towards Murten, where else is good in the area ? Well you've got Adelbode/lenk (which actually links with the gstaad area) probably 45-60 minutes away, plus the Interlaken resorts (Wengen, Murren, Grindelwald) and you're close enough to get to Flaine, Portes de Soleil, Chamonix, Verbier etc. in probably only two hours or so. Saas Fee, Crans, Zermatt would be perhaps 2.5 hours, depending on the state of the traffic on the road up to the tunnel at Kandersteg and how busy the train is. Johannes will probably be along shortly with a much longer list, as he's posted it before with approximate times from Basel. Actually, I may as well quote it: The List :-) Central Switzerland: Engelberg: www.titlis.ch 1.5h from Basel Soerenberg www.soerenberg.ch 1.5 h. Andermatt www.andermatt.ch 1.75 h from Basel. As you can imagine I know exactly how far Chamonix and Flaine are :-) The season pass, which I bought on Saturday) being such a deal for the Grand Massif I'll be skiing mostly over there This'll be the first season for four years that I won't be repping there at some point, but I'll probably try and get down for Easter again - see all t'old faces, like. Starting the season with three weeks in Andorra over xmyth and new year, which should be a laugh and a gentle 'get fit' period for proper skiing later. The most local is Vue Des Alpes which is a few min's from the office and La Roche is about 30km, but I've never personally heard of the place, anyone been? I imagine it's just a small local hill. Never heard of it. Let us know when you give it a try. -- Ace (bruce dot rogers at roche dot com) Ski Club of Great Britain - http://www.skiclub.co.uk All opinions expressed are personal and in no way represent those of the Ski Club. |

From Murten he goes rather over the lake geneva. (I think it takes 0.5-75 longer) Because if you don't hit the train (all 30min) you have the same time but the Train kost 25.- each direction. Murten - Kandersteg 1h , train, Goppenstein - Saas Fee 1h Johannes will probably be along shortly with a much longer list, as he's posted it before with approximate times from Basel. If you're in Gstaad then the areas themselves are not 'linked' as such, so car/bus/train transprt between them is required. In that sense Lenk is equally linked, as it's only a short drive or train ride further up the valley from Zweisimmen/St. Stephan. So it would be possible to ski from Adelboden over to Lenk, then take the bus to one of the Gstaad areas, ski there, then get back to Adelboden in a single day, if you really wanted to. -- Ace (bruce dot rogers at roche dot com) Ski Club of Great Britain - http://www.skiclub.co.uk All opinions expressed are personal and in no way represent those of the Ski Club. |

It depend on the Ticket you got. The www.skigstaad.ch site is more informativ as the Adelboden site. But it's from last season. Ace : Normally early season has four or five official runs open and sometimes the unpisted black to cut back to the middle station is skiable, which can offer some significantly interesting :-) off-piste variations. Ah, THAT black! The only piste I've baulked at (excluding icy patches) in recent years. I imagine it's probably safer when it's got softer snow on it before it officially opens! Johannes : But there is a liftticket vor the Berneroberland that include both aera. There is? Does it include all the resorts in the Berner Oberland (Jungfrau included)? I didn't find out about this last year, though if I had have, I'd have probably bought one. Adrian -- Adrian Shaw ais@ Adran Cyfrifiadureg, Prifysgol Cymru, aber.
