Rats...errors with Janne's video files...help?
I downloaded the last video in a series from a couple weeks ago and I
did the same tonight for the Toblach grand finale with Kris and Carl. And both times at the halfway point of the last video, as I'm playing it with Real One I get a darn error message and everything stops and I miss out! Subsequent attempts to download the clip afresh somehow only restart my existing clip promptly even though I try to throw away the old clip (I look for everything with the same name on the machine and trash it but it still seems to come back to life WAY too quick--it's like it's not really trashed). Anyway the error message is: "Unknown format: bad data in avi source file." Anyone know what it means or how to fix it? Maybe the glitch relates to the fact that I start playing the clip before it gets done downloading. ?? These are great clips but RATS! Thanks for any miracle cure, JP PS: From what I saw so far, the V2 technique is darn purty. They sure do bring their legs straight under their hips and ride it like a speed skate. I also noticed a nifty section where a guy was tilted way forward and definitely PULLING on his poles---they were out in front of his face and he pulled them towards his face. Man, I hope all my work this summer and fall with V2 pays off somehow this winter. It's starting to feel pretty good; it feels like it might be breaking thru. Then...watch out! Well, it's nice to think so anyway. Right, Mike? Oh and I noticed I seem to have lost a good few pounds after my two big workouts before catching my latest cold and haven't gained any back. Onward! |

It seams that you are viewing a copy that are in your local cache and that copy is faulty for some reason. -- Forward in all directions Janne G |

What I have done with success, after having trouble playing this season's clips from the web without saving them to my hard drive, is to go Janne's ftp site, and download the clips to my hard drive, and then it plays fine. Right click, save to folder (make a folder called Janne G, or Foolishly Large Files For Esoteric Fringe Sports, etc), download to that, then play it. No problem. |

(yes i'm old fashion and use Netscape;-), or "save link target as.." in Mozilla Or just run a shell script like ... #!/bin/bash wget http://avari181.mt.luth.se/pub2/Tobl...tRelayMen1.avi wget http://avari181.mt.luth.se/pub2/Tobl...tRelayWom1.avi That way you don't have to hang out right-clicking all day :-). Rats...errors with Janne's video files...help?
You may have to find the correct 'codec' to pay the video.
I think I'm having the same problem. I get the audio but no video. jw milwaukee |

Thanks for any miracle cure, JP I know Janne's taken us thru this before, but in case you still missed it: It doesn't matter too much what media player you use. I actually use winamp3, which does an OK job (and isn't Micro$oft). You'll need to also get the Divx codec (www.divx.com or google on "divx codec" if you want the slightly older free version). Once you install the codec, restart your media player and it *should* work just fine. |

But they don't at home, and that is where I want to watch them and show them to the kids. I have a Celeron 700. I guess I need a video card. Any suggestions? JMC |

Do you supply me with 80 gig more of disk and double the bandwidth to all, then it's fine with me, because that is what happening if i don't use compressing algorithm that are effective enough. It would mean that a file that are 100meg today would be around 200meg in mpeg1 with the same quality. -- Forward in all directions Janne G |
