His time, 2:47:11, is very good, it would in fact have given him second
place in M50, the class I would have had to compete in.

Eirik Næss-Ulseth (5th place in M50) is one of my hardest competitors in
summertime (orienteering), I _very_ seldom manage to beat him unless
he's made a serious mistake somewhere.

The last time I did beat him while both of us had good runs must have
been about 3 years ago. :-)

Terje,

Thanks for posting the results. Hilde G is remarkable - she keeps
announcing her retirement and then seems to ski at least as well as
before. Her time would have got her a pin in the men's race!

The other eye-catching result is Brian McKeever in 18th - a good
result for a North American in any event, but made noteworthy by the
fact that he is visually impaired. I can't imagine ski-ing the
Birkebeiner course with poor vision, let alone in a mass start race.
The descent from Sjusjoen has its interesting moments even if you can
see what's coming.

It seems retired World Cup skiers, and those who aren't on their
national teams for some reason, become marathoners on the World
Loppet/FIS circuit and then sometimes ski a WC race or two.

What Brian McKeever does is remarkable.
