Training Secrets
What if you knew the same secrets as the most successful Olympic
athletes and their coaches? What could you do with their Gold-medal winning programs in your hands, and had the secrets decoded? http://www.xczone.com/newskitrg.htm |

Training Secrets
I don't see how it's spam until they start innundating us with posts.
Without seeing the video, it's hard to know what "secrets" they're claiming to reveal - and no longer let be secrets (how do they know them?). Since anyone who follows the articles and discussions about elite training methods knows there are different approaches out there, even in the same country (e.g., Norway), x-c zone's post made me laugh. romath dardruba wrote: wrote: What if you knew the same secrets as the most successful Olympic athletes and their coaches? What the hell do these guys think we do all year that we need to buy their programs? OK, what they offer may be helpful to some loners and newbies but most racing skiers have their targets and goals well established at this point in the season. By the time skiers become racers they have been thru the training and development elements provided by schools, clubs, coaches and so on. Why dont these people stick to doing the thing they do best, making exciting ski films. Mike |

In all humility, I really don't think xczone is forcing their program
on us, and I am sure that most clubs have well established programs. You should check out what it says on the site, including the success of the other instructional products. This DVD appears to be filled with some excellent sources of advice (10 hours worth!), some of which are listed on the xczone web site: Thomas Alsgaard, 5 Olympic Gold Medals, 10 world cup medals one of the most greatest cross-county skiers of all time. Axel Mercx, T-Mobile Tour de France, Olympic Silver Medalist Cycling Sue Holloway silver and bronze Olympic medals (Kayak and Cross-Country Skiing) Beckie Scott Olympic Gold Medalist Cross-Country Skiing Justin Wadsworth Olympian Top Ten World Cup Cross-Country Skiing Ole Einar Bjoerndalen the most successful Biathlete of all time 5 Gold Olympic medals, 3 silver, a bronze and 16 World Championship medals. Lise Meloche, 4 x world cup gold medalist biathlon Richard Weber National Ski Team, Skiing Hall of Fame, Gudrun Phleuger 3x Overall World Loppet Cross Country Skiing Champion, 5x World Mountain Running Champion and about a dozen more... Personnally, I do not claim to know it all, and think it wise to continue to study the sport even into competitive phases. You should also be aware that in addition to producing exciting ski videos, these are the same guys who produced all the technical xc skiing material for coaching and instructor certification in Canada. Xczone appears to be one of the few sources of instructional multimedia available in the market today and it is generally well received. my 2 cents DH |

I hate to see commercial ads on Usenet and choose not to buy from people who advertise here. Never have bought from people who advertise to discussion groups, never will. I have the "Tao of Skiing" CD, BTW. It's more flashy than instructive, I thought. -- Melinda Shore - Software longa, hardware brevis - Prouder than ever to be a member of the reality-based community |

Now Darlene, as I suspect you must know because, as I recall, you're
close to or affiliated with xczone, the Canadian ski instructors association (CANSI) had a long debate before allowing hiring xczone to run the cameras and technically produce the film (and no more). Why? Because some of the latter's technical instruction is erroneous and destructive of good skiing and CANSI didn't want to be tainted or have their good material screwed with. All of this information is available on their website, or was last winter when the initial online version came out. rm wrote: You should also be aware that in addition to producing exciting ski videos, these are the same guys who produced all the technical xc skiing material for coaching and instructor certification in Canada. It is not like they are advertizing viagra :-) Check out the crap on
the Alpine site. Thank goodness rec.nordic. skiing does not suffer too much from that. Although, there is still a lot of noise here, at the expense of useful knowledge. At least we can finf links to published materials to help run a ski program. Announcing a new ski product to the ski community is fair game. I want to know what is available without having to wait or have it it filtered through a magazine review. Otherwise it would be years before it came to the attention of skiers who would find it useful. I remember the Tao of Skiing ... It came out in the early 1990. There products and technology have evolved significantly since then. |

Training Secrets
Hello RM, I am not so much associated with xczone as I am a fan, and appreciate what they have done for the sport... I have to make a significant clarification to what you said, because I am quite close to CANSI. You are correct when you said that the Canadian ski instructors association (CANSI) had a long debate before working with xczone to technically produce their DVD manual. There were very strong supporters and some detractors. But you are mistaken in your reasoning. xczone had previously produced the technical manual for cross country canada which aligns closely with USSA doctrine. Note: xczone has collaborated with both USSA and CCC in the past, and come from a racing background. There is a philosophical difference between CANSI/PSIA doctrine and CCC/USSA. One is focused on recreational aspect of the sport and the other high performance racing. This schism has existed for decades and is quite independent of xczone. (twisting is one contentious issue). What xczone was able to do ,where all others failed, was to harmonized both views and publish them for all skiers to watch, absorb or make informed decisions. Both CANSI and CCC are exceptionally pleased with the outcome, and I think skiers are better for it. You can always call the technical director of both programs, but I believe that a endorsement from both organizations throwing support behind the products is published on the DVD web site. In the end, we will all choose how we want to ski. |
