Default South Lake Tahoe lodging ideas

Hello all,
I am planning a ski trip to Tahoe this winter and looking for some
lodiging ideas in the South Lake Tahoe area. I have stayed at
Harvey's before and I am looking for something a little more
accomodating for a group of 6-8. We could split up into separate
condos or lodges if we have to, but it would be nice to be able to
hang out by the fireplace, etc of a common room. We still like the
nightlife though, so close to the action. Shuttles to Heavenly would
be a plus. I'm not sure if I want to pay for ski in/ski out
--especially if we will be going to casinos every night anyway.
Thanks for the help.

The Forest Inn is in California but literally backs up to the
Harrah's parking lot. They have units in size up to 2-bedroom:

The Heavenly Gondola passes overhead.

The Ridge Tahoe is at Heavenly's Stagecoach Lodge. There is a free
shuttle to Harrah's:

Maybe you would be happy with a cabin or condo. I have a web page
that lists a few lodging companies:

The units along Kingsbury Grade, east of Stateline, are still pretty
close to the "action".

Try the Tahoe Seasons. 100 yard walk to the Heavenly Tram and it's a 5 minute
free shuttle ride over to the casinos.

Thank you to both of you. These all look like they might work. We
want to stay over New year's but it looks like I am running late to
book rooms for the holiday. I'll keep trying though...
