Default Marker Binding Problems

Dialing from 6.5 to 7 is like nothing. Within tolerance range or

Apparently my "official" DIN is 7.5, but I am being cautious. 6.5 is OK on
Salomons!

Markerz = Safe + Occasional Blowouts
Salomon = Occasional Danger + Retention

I've been pretty happy with Salomons. I'm not really rough on bindings,
pre-releaseing is usually something that never happens. A mate snapped his
K2 park skis the other day though, as the salomon bindings they'd put on
them didn't release when the tail dug on a bum landing.

Takes good technique to use Markerz in les bumpez. That sed, M1000 is
kind of an entry-level binder. You should be on Piston Controls or
something.

I wasn't actually on bumps, just the usual ungroomed aussie snow where there
were undulations and small messes. I usually use pretty low-end bindings;
rentals are my favouites! As I don't need a high DIN, I tend to think I
shouldn't need exxy bindings either. I'm more of a type II skiier. Stein
Erikson is my role model.

IF YOU"RE NOT FALLING YOU"RE NOT LEARNING!! Or so they say.

The people who say that are either young or pretty horrible skiiers (I say).
I say falling is optional most of the time. When teaching 70+ year olds,
definitely not an option. The older you get, the less appealing falling
becomes. I find it very unappealing!

I've always felt that if you fall you learned something wrong. Last
example: "I'd better take that jump, even though I have never jumped
before, because I THINK that asshole is going to hit me because he doesn't
see me." Wrong. I still have a dent in my thigh where my ski tip hit it
last March.

Then you should learn how to spell his name.

Why?

It would look stupid if you mispelled his name on a job application.

No, no, no - it's 'Strine she misspelt.

Bwhaaahaahaa.

Just out of curiosity, exactly which part of the "Erikson Role" are
you following...the "Pretty-Boy Prissy Skier" model, or the

"Flaming
Jerk" model?

He's probably more of a girl than she is. Source of envy? Anyone's
guess.

He's always been nice when I've talked to him.

I've never met the man but he has carefully crafted a media image
and that media image has distorted skiing instruction and form for
decades. Contrary to the resident "expert", his style with opposite
rotation of the shoulders and knees and ankles locked together is
not viable or workable in anything other than flat /groomed
conditions. There are so many more great skiers that should be
emulated Killy, Stenmark, Mahres etc. This whole thing sounds
like someone has her nose so far up someone's butt she can't
see the sun.

I believe his "style" comes from what worked for the equipment he
learned on. That was how one raced in the early 50's when he was racing.

He gets through the powder pretty well as well at the groomed. At his
age that's pretty good. Powder is pretty much all I ski these days too.
Except for that occasional groomed you need to get back to the chair.
Why not?

Killy, Stenmark, and the Mahres are all racers. That's different from
skiing.

My impression is that "skiing" today is about image. A case of get the
equipment that will make you "look the best" with the least effort. I
don't care much for that "scene" anymore.
