Really hammering down up here too, JT. I hit Garnet Hill this afternoon for
a quick session and made it home just as the roads started to gnarl over.
Bring it!!!

Yeah, here in southern New York it's coming down very hard. So much
so that our local place (Fahnestock) might not be able to deal with it
well for a full day of skiing tomorrow. When it rains it pours I
guess.

Yahoooooo toooooo! Up by Rochester NY we got about a foot sitting there
now and more promised for tonight! This is payback for all that warm
weather and not having Lake Ontario freeze over!
We have a Winterfest at a local park tommorow (Mendon Ponds Park) ,
sponsored by several groups including the Rochester Nordic Ski club. I
hope the cold temps don't keep too many people away.
http://www.rochesternordic.org/~winterfest/events.html if anybody is in
the neighborhood.

Yeah, we got 7 or 8 inches yesterday. I'm sore from shoveling. Skied 2
hours classic at the famed William O'Brien State Park in the Saint
Croix Valley northeast of Saint Paul. They were out grooming the whole
time I was skiing. I skied with Bill Stuber, Tom and Lee Bengel, Jerry
Engen, Lori Belz and Mark Stolpe. Temp was 19 to 21F. VF30 worked okay
but Xtra Blue was better. Nice to ski without it being on a swamp,
lake, man-made area or golf course... Not that I'm complaining. My ski
fitness is lacking. Hard to keep motivated when there isn't much snow
ya know. With today's 2 hours, I'm up to 4 1/2 hours for the week! I'm
already thinking about new bikes and the golf clubs...

Hey, watch yer mouth, fella. This is supposed to be a family-friendly
group. We don't need any of that kind of language! :-)

Huh? Ontario never freezes over. And besides we don't want it to
anyway. If it freezes over it can't make lake effect snow at Tug
Hill!

Be sure to check out the ski-orienteering meet hosted by the Rochester

Ooops , I was thinking about Lake Erie freezing over, and wasn't
thinking they all didn't. Partly because they didn't run the ferry (or
plan to when it was still an active business) in the winter, so it made
me think it was frozen over!
