Default How do you measure the board's length?

I recently bought a Nitro Atlas 164 but when I measured it I noticed that
it's 5 cm shorter than that.
I have 3 other snowboards in the house and all are 5-6 cm shorter than the
length that is written on them.
I have measured them on the bottom from tip to tail with a flexible meter.

I think most manufacturers measure along the curvature of the board.

You're experiencing shrinkage! Seriously, that is a substantial
variation. Few of my boards have ever been accurate, even when
measuring on the curves. None have ever been longer than the written
length.

My old Gnu Raceroom was 2 cm longer than spec (181 vs 179). They may
have been measuring chord length (straight from tip to tip along the top).

Some companies measure curvature.
Some measure straight tip-tail.
But some might be marketing!
A fictitious example could be that:
GNU already makes a Danny Kass 158. Next year they sign a guy called Joe
Smith. Joe wants a 158 pro model board too but marketing says that they
don't need two 158cm pro models. So poor Joe's board is marketed as a 157
or 159cm.
If you are really concerned bring a tape measure to the shop. If not then
just try to eyeball it.
