Turin airport to Val D'Isere
I did the journey 2 years ago, dropping someone of mid week. Would not recommend it. Back down in Leon direction then off to Turin. The Frejus tunnel can take hours, they were controlling the amount of traffic entering, We missed the plane despite allowing 2 hours aver the 4-5 hour estimate. On leaving Turin Airport I had a huge job terming in the direction back to France. I could be me! but needs careful navigation or a GPS: (life saver) The flights were cheep though. In article , Greg Hilton writes My mapoint application reckons its quicker to drive to Val D'Isere from Turin than Geneva! Would anyone concur? Is it possible to do the drive in winter? 10:16 62.1 Turn RIGHT (East) onto D902 31.3 mi 11:04 93.3 Arrive Val d'Isère The D902 goes over the Col d'Iseran, for which viamichelin says 'probable closure from October to June because of snowfalls'. Someone should tell Michelin to change that to "certain closure". The road from Col de l'Iseran down to Val is part of the piste map.... The winter route from Turin takes you down the Maurienne motorway and then back up the Tarentaise past Albertville and Moutiers. I doubt that from Turin you can get to Albertville faster than from Geneva (approx 1.5 hours). In summer I wonder if it would not be more direct to go Turin-Aosta-Pre St.Didier-Col du Petit St.Bernard-Seez-Val d'Isere |

The Iseran from Turin takes ages even in summer - and it cost a lot. Turin-Aosta-PSD-Petit St.Bernard-Val D'Isere is 3 hours max. In winter Iseran and Pt. St. Bernard are always closed - the fastest way to Isere is from Geneva. Be careful with directions. This summer just outside Courmayeur I had twice people (who had driven all the way from Turin Airport) asking me direction to Briancon!!!! |

Turin airport to Val D'Isere
Greg Hilton wrote My mapoint application reckons its quicker to drive to Val D'Isere from Turin than Geneva! Probably worth bearing in mind that Turin Airport in winter can be worse than the charter terminal at Geneva! Last time I landed there the luggage from three busy flights was on one carousel. The skis were brought out and left in a narrow gap. Total chaos. Oh, and Turin airport is notorious for fog. Nick |
