Hot Wax Stained my Board
After my last day out last season I waxed my board without scraping off
the excess, to keep the base from drying out (a tip I got from the archives here). When I went to scrape off the wax this season, I noticed that the white graphics on the base of my board were tinted orange (the color of my wax). I thought I just wasn't scraping enough wax off, so I took it out on the slopes in hopes that the wax would wear off. But, it's now March and, while some of the orange tint has gone away, there are areas that look like they will be permanently tinted orange. Has anyone else had this happen to them, or have I done something wrong? Is it possible the base of my board is slightly more porous than it should be? I don't notice any performance difference, just thought it was weird. Thanks Eric |

I suspect some companies may use stronger dye than others. The thing you really need to watch out for is using a graphite based wax on a nonblack base. That I'm not sure ever goes away completely. Kinda like dingy socks. |
