Snowboarding in Korea
1988 Olympic, 2002 Worldcup...
And now... 2014 Winter Olympic is going to be held in South Korea. Snowboarding has never been more popular in Korea. It has already become a trend. Most of the snowboarders are students or company workers and female snowboarders take a large number of percentage. A peculiar thing is that most of them enjoy snowboarding at night. And so the peak time of snow resort in Korea is from about 9PM to 2AM. Some resorts open all night. The season begins in late November and ends in early april. The period of season is somewhat short compared to North Europe or North America, but as I mentioned above during the season there is almost no break time and day. Every snow resort has its own condo and around the resorts there are hundreds of accommodations like lodge, motel, inn... And you can also lodge at a private house. But since the resorts are not far from 'Seoul', it takes about 1~1.5 hour, and all resorts provide shuttle buses for free, it seems to be better to stay in downtown. After enjoying city tour during day time, you could move to mountainous area at any time. As the other people do, I usually go snowboarding at night, actually in the middle of the night. It may look dangerous to descend from a mountain in the darkness. But it's an another amusement. Send me an e-mail and then I'll tell you how make your trip more pleasant and about the 12 best lcations to snowboard in Korea in detail. |

Snowboarding in Korea
And what are the mountains like, I work in Korea frequently and the mtns
look pretty basic...only a few runs, no off-piste action and no real powder days? "SeanWang" wrote in message oups.com... 1988 Olympic, 2002 Worldcup... Snowboarding in Korea
Enjoyed your post. Any boarding in NK ?
We've (wife and I) have been skiing and boarding in Iran,,,,just north of Tehran, since 1980. Started at Stratton Ski Resort in CT/USA in 1977. Once you know the dress and approved practices, Iran skiing/boarding is great. Temps 20-50°F. Regards 102206 |
