Update for those who ca Jay Peak, VT conditions (semi-excellent) today
Most of Vermont and especially Northern Vermont got anywhere from
4-12" of snow in the last few days. I went to Jay Peak this morning to find myself boarding in the finest powder i've seen in years in the area...with that said... When I got there only the T-Bar was open which pulled you up about 500' and dropped you off on a snow parking lot.....so I drank coffee for a while and they opened the three person lift (only one that was open)..that takes you to 5 blacks so ithats plenty good enough for a $30 lift ticket (all day). You could hike to other places but screw that Center run under the lfit sucked after a few hours. The other four runs kicked ass if you like bumpy riding on 2-3 of them. The fourth one was all moguls and coated with about 8" of fresh powder. It was awesome. I think its called Timbukto or something. It smooths out from the moguls a bit and the contiinuation of the run was closed but people were just going under the "closed" cord and I followed in orderly suit. That was about halfway down and the conditions were awesome (of course, only like 5 people went down it) and you could bomb the hill at fantastic speed and there were several big jumps (not human made but creeks (or maybe a giant log under the snow?)...Either way the day at Jay Peak was awesome. The woods boarding was equally awesome with the freshest, softest powder your ass ever fell on. You could cut across all four runs through the woods to make it extra interesting. So as far as I can tell Jay Peak was IT today! More snow forecasted tonight so tomorrow may be another great one! (for $30!) If you're a novice you do NOT want to go to Jay Peak. Hope this helps!
