Some rank amateur photographer that posts here by the name of Astro.

and whose is the skier?

A suicidal idiot whose name is credited on the referenced page. He
can jump off of rocks, but he can't ski the deep worth a ****..

This is a magazine quality photo

I know, I know!! The problem is, they don't.

with perfect exposure.

Define "perfect"?

Nice, very nice!!

Sky could be bluer. Try this:

nice pic. I touched up the pic a bit using a imaging program. Hope you
don't mind. Now the sky is really really really blue...

Astro, was that Alta proper or were you heliskiing?

Is the Heliskiing here worth it? I mean, is it that much better than
say, Powder mtn was today? (I'm actually being serious here)

I can't imagine it could possibly be better. Are the helicopters
heated?

Off to Lonestar for Onion Blossoms, chili and a GIANT steak

Alta proper...East Greeley. I won't start doing any helo skiing until
later in the season....once the conditions get really good ;)

Oh yes, for sure it's better, usually. But on a day like today, why
waste the $$ on the rotor lift when you have perfectly acceptable
powder via the land-based lifts.

I can't imagine it could possibly be better. Are the helicopters
heated?

Sure thing. Those turbo jets put out more than enough BTU's to go
around.

FYI, IMO Ruby River Steak House has great steaks and OK
on-the-premise-micro-brewed-beer. A little high-priced, but
definitely good. There is one in Riverdale (near Ogden), and one in
SLC. Actually, the one in Riverdale definitely has a collocated micro
brewery, but I'm not sure about the one in SLC as I've never been to
that one.

The texture in the rocks and trees looks odd -- almost solarized.

Actually, I could have made the sky substantially more deep blue
simply by remembering to screw my circular B&W polarizing filter onto
the lens. Unfortunately, that particular filter was in the camera
bag, at the house.

Oh well, live (ski, take photos) and learn.
