Ski gear cleanout
One of the parents of a kid on a soccer team my son was coaching last year is a plumbing manager at HD. I was half-seriously joking that he should hire me part time, based on two college summers in the 60s working as a plumber's apprentice. He started talking about parts and tools I had never heard of. I had to spend some time in the store studying the stuff just to catch up. The next time I had a copper pipe pinhole leak, I fixed it with just a utility knife and a pipe cutter to fit in a sharktooth patch.

My response is I am not wearing any Orange and I am a consultant and will want a CC on file before I answer any tech questions. I'm curious. What kind of questions and why YOU? I've asked guys who looked like they knew what they were doing (tool belt, butt crack, etc.) questions and it's never seemed to bother them. I have low thresh hold for idiots, if you can not figure out who works there. Why bother me? Because it's difficult to find an orange-vest person and if you DO find one (s)he may not be knowledgeable in the area of concern. YOU, OTOH, look like you know what you're doing and you're shopping for the same kind of stuff that I'm shopping for. Two if you have done your work and understand what your doing your questions would be reasonable and minimal. Not like the question I heard at the bait store today, can you filet my 40 lb fish I do not know how. That's ridiculous. What kind of idiot would go fishing without knowing what to do in the unlikely event that he actually caught something? An example I am loading 20 60lb bags of cement on a cart, and a guy comes over and asks me how to fix a crack in his cement. I am sweating like a pig covered in dust and I want to stop and answer questions of which the only answer involves more questions. Definitely inappropriate! Often guys in the trades wearing toolbelts are looking for side work, and HD is a fertile place for people that need work. Yeah, but those guys are standing outside, not inside where I'm looking. This is SoCal where day-laborers of possible illegality abound and who generally make more than minimum wage because they know how to do what's wanted. The clients I seek are not normally found in HD, and frequently the type that are asking questions are not the sharpest utensils in the drawer. Indeed. -- Cheers, Bev I'm pretty sure omnipotent entities don't need middlemen to get their message to the people. |

I hope the jerk who plumbed our house in ~1952 is turning on a spit in hell. -- Cheers, Bev I'm pretty sure omnipotent entities don't need middlemen to get their message to the people. |

You don't even know what BMDF means. Hell, you don't even ski. But the freaks know. Let me educate you, Pussy Fart. Blow Me Dumb ****s. Hey, get any new ski gear this year? Happy to show you my stuff, assuming you live near a ski area in the west. Oooops, forgot, you probably live with your mother in Cleveland. I know what BMDF means, and I know what BMH means: Bent Melon Head. |

It is just like the people in home depot that want other people to do their work. Cleaning a big striper is bloody and messy and a little bit of a process but really not difficult. The most work will be cleaning up. Part of my resentment is my dad was the do everything for the neighbors and it took time from me. Also he then used to complain how he was rarely compensated for his time. So I do not get my self in the same situation as him I control my time. I will help those that try and not just expect help. I offered to help the guy needing the fish cleaning, I would start it and show him and he would finish it. Can you guess the answer. So I am at the marina today rebaiting my lobster traps and this guy comes over to me with a broken reel and asks me what is wrong with it, why does it keep spooling out and not lock. I look at it and suggest he take it to the bait store does he have her number. I am wearing a Racecar spelled backwards is Racecar tee shirt not even a nautical shirt on |

The most work will be cleaning up. When I was maybe 10 we went to one of those guaranteed-to-catch-a-fish-pay-by-the-inch places. I caught it, I had to clean it. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use duct tape. If you can't fix it with a hammer you've got an electrical problem. |

Met the guy with the reel problem in the bait store today. The bait lady blew him ****, she blows everybody ****. But where else do you hang out on vacation but the bait store. Go back to NY tomorrow, I am steaming crabs and cleaning fresh caught squid. One of my missions on vacation is to eat the squid I catch, the crabs I give away to friends. |

Part of the downsizing is taking 45 years financial and tax records from a file box per year down to a pendaflex folder per year. I hauled out all the boxes yesterday, and I have been sitting watching Ice Road Truckers while sorting through bug-eaten papers in the boxes.
In one box, that was in a stack up in the garage loft a few feet from the ski whose binding exploded a couple of years back, I found the missing spring and a few chunks of plastic that looked like binding. Maybe that is why that stack fell over. |
