Default Snowboard Cleaning

Ok, so I decided it was time to clean my board for the first time (Im
a regular at Tamworth snowdome in the Uk and my board is filthy from
the dirty snow there, apparently the grooming tractor leaks hydraulic
fluid) so I heard that turps would do the job, i mixed some turps im
with some water (roughly 1 part turps, 2 parts water) i used a sponge
and cleaned both sides, it seemed to work, all the black crap came off
and my board looked sparkling, however, once it dried the board went
white from the turps and I have a bad feeling it may have took some of
the paint off, I re-waxed it and its brought some of the colour back
but the board still looks and feels a bit iffy, is this likely to
affect the boards speed? and is there anything I can do about it?

Thanx :-)

I would avoid putting any solvent on the topsheet of the board as some types
of graphics are soluble in some solvents. As for damage to your base, there
are very few solvents that will actually do anything bad to it. I usually
recommend citrisol (sold under the brand goo gone in the US) for cleaning up
your board. It won't harm anything on the board, give you cancer or funny
looking babies. As for the base, you could have it base ground, but
frequent waxing will help it more than anything. If this is the first time
you've cleaned up your board, it's probably the first time you've waxed.
Wax your board frequently and it will last longer. Wax makes the base more
durable and glide faster on the snow. Hot waxing also helps the board
retain it's camber.
