Not been for a few years but my recollection was that it was no more
expensive than many French resorts. Although I think the quality of the
restaurants was mostly high. Very few choices for half board most places
seem to be B and B if you book direct yourself. The Planibel complex is the
main half board option but I did not like the look of that.
If you want a recommend for a B & B we stayed at the Chateau Blanc. It has a
web site, Roberta and Paula also ran a local restaurant for the half board
part. (La Luna i think)

Thanks, just got back from Arinsal and it was rather expensive compared to 5
years ago, large beer average 4 to 5 euros.
Thanks for the info.

Was in Flaine last week. The White Grouse which was owned by the John Willie
Lees family, used to have the only JWL bitter in the Alps. It looks like
they have sold out and the atmosphere has changed away from a Sports pub. No
more JWL but replaced by Kilkenny. Guess what 6.5 euro per pint and only
Happy Hour on cheap larger. I make that over £5 per pint. Things change
quickly.

How much was a large beer in La Thuile?
It's a good international gauge of costs

Thanks John

I thought the international standard for cost of living was the Big
Mac. And if you're going to a place that doesn't have them then it's
worth paying more for their beer.

I was there a couple of weeks ago, can't remember the price of beer, they
try and confuse things by charging Euros. But I did notice that our lunch in
La Thuile was about half the price of the next day's in La Rosiere. Eat in
Italy before skiiing over the border.

A. Dieu.

Thanks John

I was in La Rosiere last week and went to La Thuile for one day. Unless you
are already committed to going there I would think very carefully. The snow
conditions are not good, several runs are closed and many that are open have
bare patches. I was really disappointed as I came to LaRos last year and
skied for 5 of the 6 days in La Thuile. This year all the Italians are going
over to the French side which, although only it is only a couple of km away,
has excellent snow, amongst the best I've seen for a few years.

If you do end up in La Thuile I would heartily recommend the 'Le Rascard'
restaurant for pizza/pasta/authentic Italian cuisine. Its down at the bottom
of the village and seems to have some arrangement with the neighbour a
couple of doors down who allows access to the restaurant directly from the
piste, via his back garden!

Walter
