Fat powder skis (Atomic) - what length
I decided to get a pair of fat skis for powder (have been boarding on powder
and skiing on anything else but it's time to ski the deep stuff). It looks like the long units are preferred but Atomic seems to offer much shorter lengths and advises not to go crazy with long ones. Sugar Daddy is one of my choices (they have lengths 153, 163, 173, and 183 cm). All are 99 mm in waist and range from 119, 121, 123, 125 tip and 112, 113, 115, 117 tail respectively). I am an advanced skier 5'10", 160lb. If I can do good on the shorter ones I like the idea of not carrying much weight with me across the continents. I also have a pair of standard skis (Volkl SS6 for anything but the powder so the fatties are to be exclusive for the deep). Thanks. Martino |

Since that's all they're for, get all you can. That is, assuming you can handle a pair of 183's. Even though you're light, you're tall. No matter how light the powder gets, you'll still be able to float in it. It's all about fat. |
