Default I had a ski dream the other night

It took place in Whistler, like most of my ski dreams. First, I was
frustrated/anxious about not getting enough skiing hours in even though
I was on vacation (a typical theme in my ski dreams). Then, I was
skiing downhill, making good turns in slightly mushy snow. And then, I
came to a really steep cirgue, with an almost vertical drop into it. I
was looking around for an easier way in, then I woke up.

Actually, I thik the whole dream was symbolic of my not getting enough
road biking in the past month.

I'm having a day off from skiing today. We had our ski school party last
night, but the season doesn't end until October 10th this year. Getting
mushy down the bottom though, but thanks to last weekend's dump, most of the
hill is in great shape. It's warming up again now, and hats and sunscreen
will be in demand during the coming weeks, I think.

October 10th sounds pretty late; that's April 10th in northern
hemisphere terms.

I have ski dreams most days. Sometimes even when I'm awake, I could
feel poles in my hands a feel myself carving down the slopes. These
dreams are more frequent as Winter nears. I can't freaking wait !!!!!!

yep. Usually our season is tagged to some very fake long weekends: closing
date is officially the October long weekend, which this year is first
weekend...it floats. Like opening weekend, which is the Queen's Birthday
Long Weekend, which floats around in June. In a great year, like 2000, they
open before that, but usually the snowmaking enables them to open for that
weekend. this year the snow happened to coincide.
This year has been good; one resort decided to declare closing to be a week
after the Oct long weekend, so we did too. I must say, we'll do it no probs,
we have a stack of snow.

I taught in a skivvy ("turtleneck") and ski school fleece vest today and was
very warm. And it's going to warm up all week. eek.

That reminds me of a corny old joke. Appologies in advance due all
around...

Three guys drive to a ski range and arrive late at night. They finally
find a place to stay, but when they get to their room, they find that
it only has one large bed, and this is the last room in the place.
They decide, 'what the heck, it's only one night' and share the bed.

The next morning they all wake up. The guy on the left side of the bed
says, "I had the strangest dream. I thought some guy was jerking me
off." The guy on the other side of bed is shocked. "I had the same
dream, too!"

The guy who slept in the middle says, "Well, I didn't have that dream.
I dreamed I was skiing!"

Whaaat? A Queen's Birthday holiday? Now I've heard everything!

Last year they gave us an extra day on an existing holiday for her
anniversary; most people went away for the holiday and ignored the
anniversary.

Oh, that lovely feel of soggy off-piste melting on your bare arms,
cooling your sunburn.

And April 10 is pretty much the early close time for the big
ski areas in Colorado. Quite a few go a week or two beond
that. Then some like A-Basin are still going strong in June.
