Default Areas near AZ

While happy to be off the east coast, my recent move to southern AZ has
left me wondering where I can go (within a reasonable drive) for "big"
resort fun.

I know Taos is only 5 hours away, but my girlfriend is a snowboarder.
She's only ever been to the Poconos (PA), so I'd love for her to get the
full big mountain experience (varied terrain and especially the apres).

Anyone have any suggestions? Southern Utah?

Thanks.

Looks like Sunrise is open (http://www.sunriseskipark.com) I seem to
recall that was a pretty popular place for the Phoenix crowd. Snowbowl
in Flagstaff ( http://www.arizonasnowbowl.com ) is respectable, as long
as they get snow. If you want to make a long weekend out of it, head to
Southern Colorado: Telluride, Durango, Silverton or Wolf Creek. Never
been to Southern Utah, so I cannot comment on those. You could also
look into Apache in Ruidoso, NM. That may be pretty close to you. Once
again, I do not have experience with that place either.

Thanks... Out of the southern Colorado options, what would be your
recommendation on the highest cost / fun ratio?

Depends on what you want. For me, the cost to fun ratio is best at Wolf
Creek. Low cost, fun mountain. Some other people on rsam can comment on
Silverton, it gets great reviews, but is not a traditional experience.
Durango is a college and ski town. Telluride is a ski town. Pagosa
Springs (Wolf Creek) has a rustic feel to it. I like to stay at the Spa
Motel. Nice outdoor hot springs pool is great after a day of skiing.
