Default Hotel Deutschmann In Obergurgl, Austria

Spent last week in Obergurgl where the snow was fantastic and the skiing
made interesting by bags of powder and white outs. The only problem was the
hopless hotel we were sent to by Inghamas. The Hotel Deutschmann is a toxic
dump. The Austrian Tourist Board claim it is 4 stars. Anywhere else it would
be lucky to scrape 2. Steer clear of the Deutschmann unless you want the
full Basil Fawlty treatment!
Good skiing and boarding one and all!

We were in Obergurgl over Christmas with Inghams but in the Olympia Hotel -
excellent family run hotel. Food was excellent even if the English
translation of the menu sometimes was a bit iffy - "Tureen of Cancer" for
starters - they now know it should be Crab Pate but will probably leave it
for amusements sake. Quite surprising the number of English there who were
regulars coming back year after year. Anyway would recommend the Olympia to
anyone.

I don't know the Olympia but two other excllent hotels which Inghams do in
Obergurgl are the Gotthard and the Bellevue!
I think Obergurgl does have a high return rate because it has guaranteed
snow and some Tyrolean charm.
