It's amazing that Diva sings opera. Well, not by her name. But a lady opera singer on RSN? Bravo!

Speaking of Stan (I don't think it's the same one), to be a culturally
competent nordic skier, ya gotta like the stylings of Stan and Doug! Not
opera or polka, but, er, culturally important in a way...

Yes, on the side. I teach voice, and did my master's in vocal =
performance and then pursued it actively, but by the time I was doing =
that I was married with a house and a dog and was very happy, so I =
wasn't really ready to just walk off in pursuit of a singing career. So =
instead, I just sing whenever, wherever. It's fun. Thanks, Jeff.

Ken, you couldn't have been at those concerts if you remember them! :-)

What about "Olaf Trygvason"? Maybe not exactly an opera, but full of solos
and choruses and drama and all that good stuff.

I'm not telling you or anyone else is any less skier if you
go to opera

But off course you are less skier if you go to the opera!
They would not even let you in with your ski poles.

OK, you barked up the wrong tree and we're going to call you on it. : ) Around here we make people sing. Skiing people especially. So you have to come over some time, or meet us at some event, and show us what's up. As you say, if you can sing, you gotta sing.

Right now I'm typing with a very nice musician (who's been on MTV a couple times) playing in our living room. Some very nice music of his own. We're lovin' it. He also cooked for us today. Can't beat it. But he doesn't ski. So he's only partway there. However, he's a very good cabin person to bring along. It takes all kinds.

We went to a little reading group today where a guy who I'd never seen there sang us a perfect rendition of Hank Williams' "The Angel of Death." My Lord, what luck. (This guy held the NCAA record for the 1/4 mi in the 70's. I love the Other Interests.)

Opera would be a great addition to the ski scene. Cycling has already claimed it. Skiing is ready. Especially mid-Michigan skiing.

You're in trouble now. There's going to be skiing and singing and worse, or more, depending. Husband and dog included, or whomever. Around here, everything goes together.

(Have you been to the Singing Festival here in E. Lansing? Two years now they've had it. Amazing thing.)

Reply to me via email please! Thanks.
