Relay women Val di Fiemme.
Today, in a local makeshift medal ceremony in Gudbrandsdalen, the Norwegian
women relay team got its well-deserved silver medals from the last World Championships in Val di Fiemme, Italy. The original silver medallist Finland was disqualified, when Kajsa Varis got caught in doping. I do not remember it all from these championships, but I suppose that Russia, or maybe it was Germany, won the gold there. I think that it was Germany, but I am far from sure. Norway must originally have won the bronze, so we took over the silver from disqualified Finland, but who did we then give our bronze medals to? Of course the fourth team from Val di Fiemme, but who were they? I must admit that I simply do not remember this off-hand, so does anybody know? Russia? Germany? Or maybe it was the host nation, Italy? I do hope that it was the hosts, because I felt so sorry for them, not winning any medals at all originally on their very own home snow. They did not really deserve such a cruel fate, in my opinion, at least. They were at times extremely unlucky, too. So, who can tell me, which team won the bronze medals, after the disqualification of the Finnish team, because of Kajsa Varis? |
