Yeah, size 11 and up need at least mid width (255-260 waist) if you
use a freestyle stance across the board. Some guys get by just fine with size 12's and regular narrow boards, but they don't ride pipe, don't ride powder often, and plain skid their turns, kicking the back end out rather than leaning the board over. Remember, pow is the most fun on a board, so some width is needed to float your weight, if you choose to go shorter than say....170. As you get better at snowboarding, you will fin yourself leaning the board over farther and farther, almost, but not quite, duplicating the hardpack carves of raceboards and hard boots. |

Here are some factors: All good points by Baka but I will add one more - it depends not only on the size of your foot, but the size of your boot. A friend used to ride in some Burton boots that were at least and inch longer than my Northwaves eventhough my shoe size is 1/2 larger. So do consider your current or intended boot profile as well. |

Strange.....
Talking last year's Burton and Northwaves..... I'm a size 10 normally, sometimes 10.5. Both the above I need 11's, or 11.5's. My old Airwalks (Oblique and Freeride) are 10's. My Ride's are 10.5's. The outter shell length is within 1/4" of the same in all except the Obliques, which are shorter by a good 1/2". I've had over 10 snowboard boots in my 13years of snowboarding. |

You can also get Palmer Power Links. They work great and provide
better leverage: "Working on the basic principles of leverage, the PLS is not only for big footers but will also improve the skill of men and women of all foot sizes and is compatible with almost all boards and bindings." http://www.the-house.com/p1plzzpalmerbindings.html |
