The Balsams in New Hampshire has great snow!!
I got lucky and guessed right that The Balsams would have good snow.
Exceeded my expectations (2 feet deep off trail!). They have 80 km groomed and mostly tracked, warming hut with heat, great altitude (1900 ft to 2200 ft) which holds the snow much better than other Northern NH XC places. As a bonus the cafe/bar had the best hot chocolate I ever had! They also have their trails on a huge number of acres (8000?) and tend to be very wide covered roads. (but at least one blue (#51) had a long extremely fast stretch). If you know someone who needs lessons, their instructor is the most fun jovial guy I can imagine for the job. gr |
