Any source for cheap XC gloves?
Anyone know where to get cheap thin-but-insulated gloves good for XC?
I recall a link a couple years ago to a bike catalog that was selling thin uninsulateds for $10. I got some, they were good. Someone else mentioned Lowes having a good cheap glove (uninsulated). So anything good cheap out there this year? --JP |

Jeff,
For several years I went to local sporting goods stores like Sports Authority, MC Sports, Dunhams, etc. that sold cheap downhill skis. Around late February all of them would mark the ski clothing down about 30% to 50%. I got several pair of Polartech fleece gloves in various thicknesses from those sales. I even got some Hind Drylete headbands for half off at Sports Authority. The Gibralter Trade Centers would have these Golf "Dump" Shows in October where golf shops unload unsold stuff. Most winter golf gloves are cotton, but one vendor at those shows sold winter golf gloves that were Polarfleece on the back. The palm side were very soft and thin Kangaroo skin (like regular golf gloves). These were the best spring X-C gloves I ever had, and were super driving gloves too. Sierra Trading Post sometimes comes up with some bargins. I got some Pearl Izumi lobster gloves for less than half the $40 list price. Cheers, Bruce Freeburger wrote: Anyone know where to get cheap thin-but-insulated gloves good for XC? I recall a link a couple years ago to a bike catalog that was selling thin uninsulateds for $10. Mechanix gloves are about $20 at major auto supply shops and would OK
fo warm (above freezing) skiing or perhaps colder if you already have a liner glove to use with them. JT **************************** Remove "remove" to reply Visit http://www.jt10000.com **************************** |

I've been finding really good fleece gloves at Costco for $10. They've
got leather (well probably fake leather) reinforement in the palm and thumb, right where you need it for pole straps. Anyway, they work for me -- just used them for an hour lunch-time ski on an icy rail trail. -Jim wrote: REI outlet -- search for gloves -- http://www.rei.com/online/store/Sear...gloves&x=0&y=0 get a pair of Manzella liners for $3 and the OR Windy Ridge gloves for $15.
