There is a huge excavation covered in plastic that can acutally be seen from Moutier to Bourg road! John Nice to see Arc 1600 getting some much-needed attention at last. The direct funicular link up from the TGV terminal in Bourg makes this a pretty sound bet environmentally - and most of the apartment architecture was pretty ground-breaking when it was conceived. Les Arcs is (are?) still a fun place... "Nice".... Matter of opinion! Another big development, and no increase in piste mileage (although the reply from the resort is that acreage will increase with the planned boost in artificial snow cover). Plus Cachette could become a real bottlenexk at certain times ... Pete |

Since then the funicular and the greater popularity of staying in BsM has increased its usage to a serious bottleneck in the mornings! It really should be replaced with a 6 man. And the Arpette with a demountable 4 or 6 man. I agree with you about the resort getting too many beds. My fear is that it will become like St. Anton in a few years time. They need to develop some new ski areas. Incidently does any one know why they would close a piste (source)over the summer and cover it with straw? John |
