Default What do you think of my NSRT skisuit design?

Apologies if everyone has seen this already, but I think I posted it via
Slurp before I discovered that my posts thru them go NOWHERE. I got no
(few) replies anyway.

So I'm posting again!

Here it is, my starter idea for a Nordic Ski Racer Dot Com ski racing
suit. ... http://outyourbackdoor.com/articles2...uit.curves.pdf

I'm open to suggestions for changes.

My design goals a

*a tapered fit, not skintight, suitable for Masters
*double brushed lycra so it's warmer and more useful for wide range of
ski uses---training not just racing
*matte finish not shiny
*two-piece with full front zipper---again to increase versatility and
Masters compatibility
*fresh, colorful design yet wearable around town---a bit retro, and not
too loud
*no black

*Lastly: use local Detroit ski-family suitmaker
http://YoungOriginals.com to make the suits. They offer lots of options
and are very thrifty. No Cera-F prices here!

I submitted it to the Team and interestingly enough got (basically) no
reply to it. The existing Suit Committee for the Team has, however, come
up with nothing as far as I know in the meantime.

I like it. It reminds me of my all time favorite suit. A Terknit (sp?) from
Finland. Blue with white stripes on the arms, torso and legs on the side. My
second favorite suit was an Adidas with built in gaitors and a simple 3
stripe as described above. I like simple, and I think your suit is almost
simple. I agree with your design goals, except I'd like more than a bit
retro.

Ever think about making a suit that looks like knickers with long socks?
Some Swedes on Marathon team had suits like that.

I am glad you like my suggestion about YoungOriginals.
The price is right and the quality is good.
Now make sure the top is "loose" so it does not have a
tendency to "ride" up.

Terinit. They are still around, but not in the customer sales
market and the brand with the bird tail logo(1) no longer exists
as such: they´ve found a small niche in design and manufacture of
"individualized corporate wear".

A pity: the image of Juha Mieto in a Terinit suit is like the
essence of a certain kind of idealized Finnishness:-)

FWIW genuine 70s and 70s Terinit "jogging suits" are a fairly
cool - cooler than Adidas - among teenage girls: when I dug up
one such treasure (from way back when I was 14 or so) it made
the day for my young niece!

Yes, no riding up! We have to accomodate Masters Bellies!

....I've bought suits from YO almost since lycra first came out...1982, I
think it was. A bunch of friends got custom designs to kick things off.
Then 10 years later we got the U of M suits from them. Check em out! I
think their basic elite, high quality suit is still $75 or something.
YES!

Cool suit. As someone pointed out, it is vaguely "Swedish". Not that
there's anything wrong with that.

Norske g.c.

Bookmarked the nordicskiracer.com site. Nice.

Thanks!

Seems like it needs a bit more work, tho---build in the knicker look somehow. I'll try it out sometime.

http://NordicSkiRacer.com -- It's a ski website for anyone but it's based around lower Michigan and Mike the host has started a Team built around it. An internet geek team!

Darm! I didn´t find any pics...

BTW the new Finnish suit is not exactly a smashing success:
http://www.sportful.info

It´s even worse than the previous all-time low:

(A nice shot of Harri K. "dancing", though...)

but no snow condition...)
