Default Two snow days (MidAtlantic hurricane report)

The spouse has just finished 2 "snow days" -ALL schools in E Virginia,
DC, and most of MD were just closed 2 days.

Feds' off 2 days also. Most traffic lights dark and 150 of 190 schools in this
county lost power. Crews from GA, FL, even Canada? brought in to restore
power - some residents expected to wait 7 days to get power.

Unfortunately the precip (2 - 14in depending on location) was in the liquid
form :-( and falling mostly horizontally due to 30 to 80 mph winds.

70 pct of VA and 2/3 of MD/DC residents lost power. We survived but our power
was off (no puter) for nearly 24 hrs. Power reliability here seems on a par
with Iraq. We've had 5 power failures in past 3 weeks here in the big city
of Silver Spring. (we missed the NY grid failure)

2 24 hr failures
1 4 hr failure
1 2 hr failure
1 5 min failure 2 hours ago.

I hope i finish this post before the next outage !

No downed trees on our street but the roads turned green from downed leaves and
small branches. (trees lost about 5pct of their leaves) We shoveled the mess
into a 2 foot high pile in the road the full length of our front yard.

Cape Hatteras and Norfolk got it the worst.

Emptied my moms freezer into ours to save her food ( she is not among the 1000
of 20,000 in Greenbelt Md to not lose power)

If it were 50 degrees colder this would be 3 feet of snow ! (dream mode)
