Default Recommend somewhere for one days skiing close to Zurich

Evening all,

I'm hoping I can combine a business trip with a days skiing at the end
of March.

I'm flying into Zurich, can anyone recommend somewhere within 1.5 hours
drive?

Somewhere with a decent chance of good snow, and a very good variety of
runs, inc decent blacks if possible. Not really any chance of off piste
as I'm on my own, but if somewhere close by that leaves some blacks un-
pisted, so much the better!

I'm also after a recommended hotel for one night, will be touching down
in Zurich 18:30, so assuming I leave by 19:00 will get to a resort,
20:30, hoping for a decent relaxing meal, glass of wine, off to bed and
a decent ski the next day! Will need to hire skis as won't take my own
for a one day trip! Somewhere that rented Stockl's would be nice

cheers,

Greg

My tip (there may be better ones): Klewenalp. Try off-piste under the
Chaelen chairlift. There are no blacks there, but that's a perfectly safe
off-piste route. It's also a particularly charming place.

Alternatively, the run down to the bottom at Melchsee-Frutt I think is
black, and pretty long. The rest of the skiing there is a bit boring though.

Engelberg is within your range too.

Obvious choices for 'nearness' are Flumserberg and Hoch Ybrig.

Hoch Ybrig is less than an hour away from ZH by car, though without
a car you're looking at a couple of train changes and a bus and
something like 1.30 travel time.

Flumserberg is just over an hour by car or public transport and with
a train it's one change and then onto a new gondola system up to the
resort.

Neither have much in the way of blacks. Hoch Ybrig has one - the
talabfahrt down to Weglosen which may or may not be open late March.
Flumserberg has two that I know of: Leist (steep mogul field) and one
down from the Prodkamm side. There are some off-piste opportunities in
Hoch-Ybrig but you really need fresh snow. Not too sure about
Flumserberg - most of the area is quite intensively used but they do
leave a couple of runs down the back un-pisted.

Both are relatively small areas, though Flumserberg definitely has
more runs and variety. However, it gets very crowded at weekends. If
you've never been before, both should keep you happy for at least the
day.

If you don't mind travelling a bit further, you can be in Davos in
just over two hours by train. One change at Landquart, trains every
hour from Zuerich. It's a massive resort with a huge variety of all
grades of run plus plenty of off-piste opportunities.

And, as I can confirm from last week, more than enough snow..
