Anyone remember when Burton was the evil empire? It was before all the ski
companies started to buy themselves into snowboarding.

So long and nice memories Forum!

I think it has less to do with ski companies than the current state of
snowboarding. Snowboarding is not a growing sport anymore and
marketing companies like the ones Burton just purchased aren't really
necessary for the sport. I guess I understand why Burton bought them
in that many snowboarders
are anti Burton. These brands will give them a conduit to sell more
gear to the fashion afflicted.

Forum boards just won't be the same now that they are owned by Burton. Yeah
Forum's style versus substance ratio can be argued forever but at least part
of the appeal was that they were trying to make it on their own. I own a
2002-2003 Peter Line 161 wide and I love it. I'm not going to throw it out
or anything. I guess it's kinda like the news that Quicksilver is buying
(has bought?) DC Shoes. I don't own a pair of DC shoes.
Now that I've vented I can tell myself to stop caring about the politics of
snowboarding and dream of a nice November/December day with a few inches of
fresh and strap in for the first run of the season.
