advice-advanced skis
Hello -
I've recently got back into downhill skiing after a 10 year break. Ski technology has obviously advanced a great deal and I am interested in acquiring a new set of skis to replace my current antique Blizzard's be retired ASAP. I 'was' an advanced skier (around level 7 on the 9 level scale) but am a currently somewhat rusty. I'm just under150lbs, about five and half feet tall, and in my early 30s. I generally ski in Quebec (i.e. generally icy conditions) and mostly on groomed trails (I mostly avoid mogul runs). I was a relatively aggressive skier, but not overly so. I suspect I'll be in the market for a lower level 'advanced' ski. In the 'old' days this would imply a stiff and longer ski, but suspect those rules don't necessarily apply any more. Would anybody be so kind as to offer suggestions as to what type of skis I should be considering? Thanks in advance |

Go to a shop that rents decent skis, tell 'em about yourself, and try a few models that they suggest. |

Mary be right, the new ones are easier to use but there are so many
different things now it is best to find what you like the best on your own. DON"T let some pimple faced flunkie sell you what he calls "the best ski around in his opinion." Try some out on your own and decide for yourself. There are twin tips, integrated bindings, fat skis, and all kinds of other new thingies so don't let some dork tell you what to purchase. |
