You can even ski 24 hours a day if you want to .... Seriously, no one knows what conditions will be like next week given current wild fluctuations, so the best you can do is head for the highest of the standard European resorts... in France Tignes, Arcs 2000, Courchevel etc, in Austria I've had great mid-April skiing on the Pitztal glacier.... Also at Flumserberg(max 2200m high). Saas Fee and Zermatt is shure ok. Ther are a fistfull other resorts open: Andermatt, Davos, Laax, St.Moritz, Verbier, Les Diablerets all high enaugh, that you find a Slope with good conditions. Johannes |

Chris HANKS : Any suggestions on the best place to go for the best chance of good snow in the first week of April Wait as long as possible before deciding where (or even if) to go. Even Scotland could be good then! You might even pick up a bargain last-minute deal. That's what I intend to do. What are the crowds like the week containing Good Friday? Even Scotland could be good then! You might even pick up a bargain last-minute deal. That's what I intend to do. Sound advice I'd say. Skiing in April is often fantastic(in fact I've never had poor snow in early April) but if at all possible I'd wait. You may want/need to book flights sooner, but there's no need to book accomodation until just before you go. What are the crowds like the week containing Good Friday? Not too bad in my experience. If you are flexible you'll have no trouble finding accomodation. A little busier than the weekends before perhaps but nothing like Xmas/New Year or February. |
