Jay T's Big Saturday Workout-50K Club Report 8-16,17-03

This weeks reports are combined... Could this an effort to fall behind
Potter in RSN posting?

Saturday 8-16-03:
Like last week, I pulled out the classic rollerskis and hit the famed
Afton Hills. I didn't have that fantastic workout feeling I had last
week but my time was exactly the same... Driving in to the parking
area, three deer crossed the road right in front of me. As I cruised
down Valley Creek, about a dozen juvenile turkeys tried to cross the
road. They saw me and made their way back into the woods. Anyway, the
big Coulee climb was its usual beastly self. On the way back to the
car, I went down Valley Creek a second time and the turkeys were
finally across the road. They make a lot of noise and must be easy
prey for the local fox and coyotes. As I drove home after my 2 hour
workout, a hawk circled high above the Saint Croix Valley. It was a
good workout and a good wildlife day...

Sunday 8-17-03:
I rode the Paramount road bike from my home in Saint Paul and hooked
up with Steve Clancey in Shoreview. We rode to Centervile and back for
a total ride of 3 hours. I had one rear flat after going over tons of
glass along the way. Big Steve and I talked bikes, skiing and
investments on our ride. Not that either of us has a serious invetment
portfolio (especially lately). Steve took off for home while we were
in Shoreview. I stopped into the Taste of Scandinavia Bakery in Little
Canada where the woman who runs the place, a Finn, started talking
Finnish to me. I wore my "Bike Sisu" shorts and jersey. She thought I
was Finnish. I told her I put together the clothing deal with Finn
Sisu's (Ahvo) blessing. She wants a set herself now and lnows Ahvo
very well...
